If there is one thing I know about, it’s injuries! I’ve had knee surgery twice, a full rotator cuff repair, hallux rigidus, and a pulled hamstring. What is übertherm?
übertherm is a line of cold compression pain relief products. They created the Ice Pillow – a fabric-like composite of multiple conducting and insulating layers in just the right combination. When applying traditional ice to the injury, one runs the risk of suffering nerve damage, skin burns, and even frostbite from aggressive icing. Freezing could also slow recovery or even potentially make it worse. When freezing, it could lead to sharp ice crystal forming in muscles and tendons and injuring cell membranes.
With übertherm, the material slows the icing experience down and makes it very comfortable. The best part is there is less risk of ice crystal formation in and around the injured cells so it is safer and allows for more efficient healing.
Why I love übertherm for cold compression therapy:
The wraps are super comfortable to wear and stay in place. I have literally piles of ice packs in my freezer that only work if I’m sitting in place. Their wraps are so easy to wear, even my 9 year old took over the foot one for his sore achilles. It really is one size fits all and is simple to slide the ice pack in/out and wrap his foot.
